Hitachi Construction Machinery is a Japanese construction equipment company which is into the manufacturing of machinery, sales, and service of construction machinery, transportation machinery, and other machines and devices. Hitachi Construction Machinery is a subsidiary of the Hitachi Group. Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. was established in 1970 and was involved in the production of Japan’s first mechanical excavator, the company has now become a major construction equipment manufacturer in the world, and it is listed on the Nikkei 225.

Hitachi produces construction machinery, transport machinery, agricultural machinery, Hydraulic Excavators, Forestry Equipment, Mechanical & Hydraulic Cranes, Mining Dump Trucks, Crawler Dump trucks and Wheel Loaders, etc. Hitachi produces the widest range of hydraulic excavators worldwide, ranging from one-tonne minis to 800-tonne mining excavators.

Every single model delivers smooth and productive performance and is comfortable, safe and reliable. In addition to excavators, Hitachi also supplies wheel loaders, rigid dump trucks, and other construction equipment for special applications.

History of Hitachi Machinery

In 1949:- Development of the Hitachi U05, the first cable-operated power shovel made entirely from Japanese technology.

In 1955:- Establishment of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd.

In 1957:- Development of the Hitachi U106 all-purpose excavator.

In 1965:- Development and release of the Hitachi UH03, the first hydraulic excavator developed with Japanese technology. As Japan entered its high economic growth period in the 1960s, rapid advancements in social infrastructure such as roads, railways, ports, and dams, along with housing development and company factories, buildings and other industrial infrastructure led to a sharp increase in construction work. In response to this increasing demand for building, construction machinery manufacturers started working to enhance product performance. Hydraulic models were more compact and easier to operate than mechanical ones and excelled in excavating capability and maintenance. In 1965 developed the UH03, the first hydraulic excavator made exclusively with Japanese technology.

Hitachi History

Its outstanding reliability and performance earned it an excellent reputation, and it laid the foundation for the Hitachi UH Series that would expand to over 80 countries.

In 1971:- Released the KH150, the world’s first fully hydraulic crawler crane.

In 1986:- Released four models of the new-generation excavator EX series.

In 1987:- Ultra-large hydraulic excavator developed, after the 1970s, as construction projects increased in scale along with economic and industrial development, Japan faced a growing need for even larger hydraulic excavators. Outside of Japan countries started using the open-pit mining method, in which mines are accessed from the ground without digging a tunnel, and this also led the push for larger hydraulic excavators. In 1979 Hitachi forged a new path in large hydraulic excavators with the development of the 159ton UH50 and the 173ton UH801. Then in 1987, it developed the ultra-large hydraulic excavator 328ton EX3500, which in addition to mining work was mounted on a ship and deployed for landfill sediment lifting work for Kansai International Airport. Various challenges had to be tackled when building larger hydraulic excavators, including making the hydraulic equipment larger and developing electronic control systems. Hitachi employed a range of technologies to solve these problems, and succeeded in improving reliability and durability.

Given their legendary performance, Hitachi is increasing the size and introducing new models in its ultra-large hydraulic excavators as they are deployed at mines throughout the world.

In 1987:- Released six models in the second “Landy” EX series.

In 1988:- Hitachi Machinery moved into the wheel loader field; released six models in the “Landy” LX series.

In 1990:- Hitachi Machinery entered bulldozer and road construction machinery fields.

In 1991:- Released five mini-excavator models.

In 1996:- Released three models in the EX5 series of hydraulic excavators. Also released two models in the Mu series of ultra-small, pivoting mini-excavators.

In 1997:- Hitachi Machinery developed the EX5500, a super-size hydraulic excavator in the 515-ton class, the largest class in the world Received ISO 14001 certification for an environmental management system.

In 2004:- Developed EX8000, one of the world’s largest-class hydraulic excavators.

In 2006:- Launched ZAXIS-3 Series large-sized hydraulic excavator and ZW Series wheel loader models.

In 2008:- Launched EH3500ACII, one of the largest AC-driven, rigid dump trucks manufactured in Japan.

In 2011:- The First hydraulic excavator was certified as "Mechanical Engineering Heritage No. 48" by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.

In 2016:- The next-generation hydraulic excavator developed using ICT (Information and Communication Technology), In recent years Japan's construction industry has faced challenges in maintaining construction quality and improving productivity and safety as concerns mount over labor shortages and a decline in skilled workers. Its next-generation hydraulic excavator that uses ICT to support both mechanical control and operator tasks.

The ZX200X-5B checks location data from satellites, machine position data obtained using sensors, and other data against 3D CAD models of civil engineering sites to conduct excavating work semi-automatically. This use of ICT to supplement tasks that used to require human experience makes work more efficient shortens construction times and improves on-site safety. As a world leader in hydraulic excavators, Hitachi will put its advanced technologies to work for innovations in construction, mining, and other fields.

Hitachi Forest Machines

Hitachi forest machinery built six types of base machines (ZAXIS / 210L / 225USRL / 240L / 280L / 350L / 380L) that are specially engineered for forestry. In fact, over ten years ago we made the first base machine built in Japan for such work. For forestry tasks, this equipment has the following special features compared to standard excavators (varies by model). In forestry work, machines first have to make paths to create access to the site, and then there is the entire process of grasping, cutting, shearing, measuring, chopping, dragging, and loading wood. Hitachi realizes that you need highly specialized and reliable equipment for this kind of work. Hitachi Forest Machines can be fitted with various attachments to accomplish the most difficult forestry tasks. For equipment that is tough, stable, versatile and safe, choose Hitachi forestry equipment.
